sorry guvnr i cant really advise you on training, ive ridden twice, both times have been a proper struggle, not so much the fitness but as how bloody dangerous it is,when you dont live near anything that resembes a mountain to practice on.suppose ive learnt a few things, get to the start sooner than 25 mins early to avoid still being stuck at the back, realize the first road section is open with angry motorists heading straight for you, dont think your having a heart attack going up inglbro, now that hurts, pump your tyres up good,i got some shoes i could actually run most of the off road stuff,as i do tend to crash a lot,and that hurt as well, get some brakes that actually stop you,oh and ive learnt not to be too disapointed when at least 200 riders I passed on the road overtook me again later on,so I suppose just ride your own race safely.for all that ,ill hopefully have another go.
