Last Weekends Training Ride

Postby hotdog » Wed Aug 25, 2010 9:09 pm

Does anyone have the route of the training ride last weekend? I'm heading down to the dales over the BH weekend and got a couple of possible routes in mind, but still looking at my options
Also, does anyone know what the bridleways over Old Cote Moor are like? Well apart from steep. Are either of them worth doing? Is there much riding?. Don't want to carry up and down so if anyone could point me to a good direction to do them in that would be great. Cheers

Last weekend's training ride started in Buckden and went on the road to Beckermonds, then to Low Greenfield. A section of forest track then joining the Pennine Way and on to Horton-in Ribblesdale. The first part of the Pen-y-ghent climb to the end of the walled track, then over foxup moor to Foxup. At Halton Gill turn right on the Stainforth road for 3 miles until a left turn on a bridle way to Litton. After a short section of road turn left after the Pub and follow bridle way over Old Cote Moor and down to Buckden. If you want to continue the ride, climb the track from Buckden car park and go up Buckden Pike or go to the top of Kidstones pass by this track and return back to Buckden on the road.

I hope you have a good ride.

Cheers for the info John. Just about dried out after Saturday. Set off from Helwith Br and picked your route up at Horton. Buckden Pike was a good diversion, headed back via Mastiles and Stockdale Ln. Riding was good the wind, rain & hail!!! was err character building?
