Help a newbie!

Postby heidrogen » Wed Jun 22, 2011 12:01 pm

I'm a TOTAL newbie. Not just to cyclocross - I've only been cycling for a year! I'm keen give this event a go. I see lots of posts about equipment etc. but I'm not a bike geek. Are there any resources for complete newcomers? I need to know things like what sort of equipment I need to carry with me. I presume I'll need more than just a couple of spare tubes and some tyre levers! ANY advice gratefully received. Help a gal out!! Thanks.

One tip - approach with care!

here are some thoughts following last year's race ...

that said, I'll be logging in on the 1st to get this year's entry in!

Hi,

If you've not already done so I'd recommend coming along and watching this year rather than entering; you need to know what it is your committing yourself to doing.

If your really going to do this this year then look for a club in your area that has a good number of people who enter and go along and talk to them. if you're anywhere near Stourbridge in the West Midlands then the club I'm a member of, http://www.stourbridgecyclingclub.com/, has a reasonable number of members, including women, who enter this.

Good luck,

Thanks for this. I'm from Ireland so if I'm going over, it'll be to do it! Doing my homework as much as I can by speaking to people who have already done it.

Hi, YES! I'm in.
I've been speaking to a local rider who has done 3 Peaks a few times. He has given me lots of helpful advice.
I can't wait. So excited!

Congratulations. Doesn't look like I'll be racing this year :( but I will be there for the event providing support for the other club riders who have got.
