New organisation but still superb

Postby lanterne rouge » Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:32 pm

I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to congratulate Mark and his team on a superb event. I know there were some concerns when John announced that 50 as organiser was enough (is there any other major sporting event in the world that anyone has organised for fifty years?) - would anyone else be prepared to take it on? But we needn't have worried as Mark proved a worthy successor to John. Unfortunately I couldn't ride this year, but having been drafted in as commissaire I was probably in a better position than as a rider to appreciate how good the organisation was. Thank you, Mark; thank you to all the rest of your team. I hope to be back as a rider next year.

certainly agree. first time competing and (looking back at it now) loved every minute of the challenge. well organised, proper back to basics racing. none of this here's a complementary finishes t-shirt/medal/goodie bag or whatever - just nice & simple racing doing the basics (extraordinarily) well.

where else can you enter one race and get a road race, a time trial (did the section between ribblehead and horton pretty much on my own), some mountaineering (felt like it at times!), hill walking (maybe less of this next time), fell running, oh and a little bit of cyclo-cross all thrown to one event.

will most definitely be back.

thanks to all involved.

Agreed. The new committee is continuing the high standards set by John over the years.

Sadly I couldn't do the race justice with a broken mech on Ingelborough. My first DNF in 9 races
