Totally agree, well done john and thanks from me too. Hope to be back in the UK some time soon and if I can't get fit enough to race, then I'll marshall.

Yeah, it is John who got me addicted to the hardest, maddest, scariest but by far the best bike race in the world... I have to keep coming back, even though it scares the hell out of me :)

Thank you John!

Well done John. You have achieved more in your life than any man can hope to. What a fantastic contribution to cycling. Well done and thanks for all you have done to make my life so fulfilled.

24 hrs or so on, I can now say that was the most memorable of my three efforts. I've only ever said hello and thanks at the end of the race John, but to muster that many volunteers in those conditions shows the respect you've earned. You'll be freed up to ride it again next year - watch out Jebby!

Here's John being presented with commemorative items by Chris Young and Rob Jebb. They both made eloquent and moving speeches while the large crowd were being thoroughly pelted with driving heavy rain. But no complaints from anyone - just big smiles (and a few undetectable tears I daresay) all round. I hope the watching TV cameras got some of the flavour of this and that it will be included in the ITV "Dales" programme scheduled for broadcast next Spring.
