2012 Lost Property

Postby Helwith Boy » Mon Oct 01, 2012 10:26 am

Well here in Helwith Bridge it is, believe it or not, sunny. However before being overwhelmed by excitement I have checked the forecast and light rain this afternoon is to be followed by heavy rain tomorrow, so situation normal again.

John R will be here soon to help with the final clearing up, the barriers and podium are going as I write and the tents and toilets should soon be following.

In the meantime I have been discovering things nestling in the Glastonbury style gloop that is our field, and some of them are quite valuable. Rather than post a list here, and then be stampeded in the rush to claim, I think it best if you or anyone you know has misplaced something to send a PM to me (or John) and we will see if your item has turned up.

Sorry if this seems a bit cryptic, but what I have found would be useful to any of us, and if I said what it was there would almost certainly be a rush of claims that I could not substantiate.

That hasn't surfaced yet, but sounds like it was lost out on the course. If you want to PM me with any more detail - particularly possible locations, I may be able to get out for a look. We did manage to return a cycle computer last year, found just above Cold Cotes.

What I have though was left in the field.

I've sent you an Email, I deleted the post in case it wasn't cryptic enough! Thanks, & thanks to all organisers & marshalls for sorting stuff like this and standing on wet windswept summits.
Have you got the jacket I lost 9 years ago yet :D

I found a pair of Oakleys... On the boggy bit of Ingleborough, just after the style... I handed it to the marshall on the summit/checkpoint so I assume it made is way back to HQ... describe and claim if they are yours :)

Hi,

I gave a lady a yellow Scott windstopper jacket, but never noticed her again.... just wondered if she may have handed it in?

Many thanks for a great event once again

I found a wedding ring in the shower and handed that in to John.

You ride around the peaks, and lose your ring in the shower, unlucky

Just to say that very little lost property turned up this year. I have no clothing at all here at Helwith Bridge, John had a black jacket and possibly a few other things. I still have the relatively expensive yet common item(s) that I found on Monday, don't really want to say what they are yet but may have to eventually. I suppose someone will finally realise that they are missing.
