Drops/Flats Q

Postby czb » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:23 pm

Have been wanting to race this for a long time; and was planning to x Atlantic this year to do so; now I read no flats rule in effect for 2011? Is this correct? Must we race w drops? Are exceptions allowed? I race a true cyclocross frame and wheelset but with a kforce flat bar set. Can anyone confirm the rules please?

It's pretty clear here:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=49

After a lengthy discussion with the Commissaires of this year's race it was decided that from 2011 STRAIGHT HANDLEBARS will no longer be permitted in the 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross, all machines will have drop bars.

After a not so lengthy deliberation, it seems pretty clear that such a stupid rule means some won't waste money in GB racing under this stupid ruling.

I can't believe someone would consider coming from the states to ride a race and be quibbling about putting a set of drops on their bike! it doesn't make sense.

For me, a cyclocross bike with straight bars just isn't a real cyclocross bike.
